Duex Arabesques

I have been working on this piece for my Celtic harp for some time now.  I wanted to arrange it so that it was moderately easy to manage.  The problems with this piece is the lever changes, especial in the middle where Debussy changes keys for just a few measures.

I have indicates the appropriate notes to be changed by using x’s for the note heads.  I also inserted instructional text where I felt it warranted.  You will notice that I have modified the original piano arrangement to make it more playable, and have attempted to allow plenty of time for your left hand to manage the levers.

*Note- my harp has an open string tuning of Eb. (Read More)

There’s nothing more enjoyable for me than spending hours working on a new arrangement of traditional music.  I had rather do that any day,  than perform.

For me, figuring out a new way to do “stuff” is just in the genes, and that challenge has been there since I was a child.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of composing many pieces of music for Augsburg Press, and the cantata  “One Holy Night” for Eldridge Publishing House.  One of my greatest joys was composing and directing my first musical drama production entitled “The Promise,” which depicted the story of Simeon and Anna in Luke’s gospel.  Click here to listen to  Mary’s Song- from “The Promise” Be patient, this is the complete score and  it takes a while to load.  I will be  publishing this song and the remaining compositions from the musical on Sibelius Music.

Yet, all this , as exciting as it was, does not compare to the thrill I still get every time my fingers caress the strings of this magnificent harp, built by husband.  I pray the feeling never goes away.

I can think of no better way to express that joy than to share my arrangements with you.

Just a Note*  All the  lever changes in my compositions are indicated by use of small squared notes placed on the appropriate staff, or staves.  Their placement also takes into consideration the time needed to move the left hand up to lift the lever, or levers. For examples Click Here

I hope you enjoy playing this pieces.  Let me know what you think.

Songs to be published here in the future include the following :

Christmas Lullaby( Silent Night/Away in a Manger), Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Emmanuel, Lo How  Rose, Angels We Have Heard on High, What Child is This?, and Shepherd’s Lullaby, one of my original pieces.
